thanks guys. I think it is an gravity fed system. Peter I was thinking there must be a blockage or airlock somewhere. I could hear the pipes banging with the hot water and the pipe in the airing cupboard was boiling but the water wasnt going anywhere. Think i will have to get a pro in tomorrow.

I have no clue about plumbing so just bare with me whilst I try and describe my problem. I have an open fire with a back boiler. Today the pump that heats the radiators didnt work so I had to run off the hot water. I changed the fuse and got the fire going again but still the pump didnt work...
