Sorry but you wouldn't get any heating from the flue. The inlet and outlet are concentric and the cold inlet is outside!! I think most boilers would be ok with this length.
You can use ordinary silicon or "plumba" sealant or somilar. Put it under the metal rim but NOT on the rubber seal underneath otherwise it will just extrude out when you tighten it. Also put some on the threads of the waste fitting or it will leak at that point
Anotherbgeng is correct. If you feel competent you can unscrew it inside the combustion chamber. You can clean it with air presure or if necessary fine (ie 5 amp) fuse wire. Put the combustion chamber front back on before trying. It wont work unless the correct pressure differential is detected.
