    Leaking Overflow

The heating is on now, and there is about 6-7 inches of water in the tank (again, just below the overflow pipe). No dripping. But if I were to drain the small tank - how do I do it? It's stuck up in the rafters and I just used a cup to bail out a little water, but won't be able to drain it...

    Leaking Overflow

I just turned the CH off and left it off for a while. I checked the water in the attic tank and it was approx 4-5 inches - in any case, below the overflow pipe level. So the CH is on now and not dripping. So was it possible that he left the tank full and now its back to normal so that it...

    Leaking Overflow

Well, the plumber came out and changed the ball valve in the CH header tank. It was working when he left, but of course, this evening now that he's gone, the water started dripping again. He implied when he left that there was still a problem - so maybe it is flushing the system. I didn't...

Pop up sink waste won't pop up

We have a pop-up sink waste in one of the bathroom sinks. It goes down, but now won't pop back up as it is supposed to. Ended up unscrewing the chrome plug bit so that the water goes down, and the white plastic bit underneath has no 'spring' in it whatsoever. Is this something that is simple to...

    Leaking Overflow

We have an overflow pipe that is leaking. It comes from an attic tank that looks like it is about 1/2 full of water. It usually starts leaking when the central heating (heat and/or hot water) come on. It used to stop after a few minutes, but lately, it has kept dripping when the heating is...

Help! - rewiring a switch that used to work 2 lights

Ok, am I interpreting the Wiki diagram correctly: Both the cables from the bottom of the box (in my case) go to the hall-light (operated from 2 locations - the 2-way light). One is the circuit cable and one is the linking cable. So if that is right, then the red and the black cables...

Help! - rewiring a switch that used to work 2 lights

I didn't actually remove the old switch, just put it back. So a photo might help. The old switch might have 6 terminals, I'll have to check. The thing that threw me was the 2 wires in each of two terminals - nothing simple like the diagram provided with the new Homebase switch.

Help! - rewiring a switch that used to work 2 lights

We have a double light switch in the downstairs hall that is supposed to control (1) hall light (there is another switch that also controls this) and downstairs loo light. We had some (but not all) wiring replaced in our house recently and this switch is pretty old. Up to yesterday, the loo...
