Thanks for that - might go for cutting a block shorter on one side rather than inserting a cut piece on the other - as I only need a couple of feet extra space inside the garage and still have to fit the caravan behind it! Will dig the trench out to 450 and see if I hit solid ground.

Was looking at this again today, having marked out where the trench is going. The block corners are square and the blocks are square to the walls either side of the opening. As can be seen in the pic it looks like wall on one side is approx 70mm out of alignment with the other side. Just...

Just looks like that as the blocks I've laid out don't meet up. I haven't measured anything yet and just laid them down roughly to get an idea of size, hopefully all is ok

Thanks. I have proper concrete blocks to use, just used those ones to mark it out. Can I use the thermalites further up the wall? It appears that one side of the original door opening might be further back than the other side. What's the best way to deal with that? Cut blocks shorter on one side?

Yep just had a look at the remote sensor, also has 4 connections including earth. So the switched live in the remote sensor connects to the 4th terminal in the light fitting and that's pretty much it? :)

Thanks, the light has a terminal box with 4 connections - live, neutral, earth, and a white wire which I think is the pir sensor. I will follow your diagram and see where that gets me.

Can anyone tell me how to do this please. I have installed a light with built in motion sensor at the rear of my garage. I have a standalone sensor to install at the front of the garage, I want the light to come on with either sensor. Thanks

Haha it might look like it in the photo but I assure you the cable and water pipe aren't coming through the same hole! The cable comes up through the floor in white conduit, and the end of the cable is just hooked behind that pipe to keep it out of the way for the time being :-)

Well it's been raining hard all day today so after buying another length of swa and some other bits n pieces for doing the single swa length, I set to work wiring the inside of the garage. Working the next 3 days but have a couple days off next week so hopefully get it all done for the weekend...

Still confused :D Think I will drill an angled hole in the wall, and chisel out the tapered channel to take the strain off the cable as much as possible. Here was me thinking my bit was nearly done!

I'm not sure what you mean exactly. Chisel from the hole downwards, on the outside of the wall, such that the cable can gradually make it's way into the wall?
