thanks everyone. To answer bendylow - it's for light and a bit of looking out of - so although sunpipe looks very interesting (thanks Nige) it won't do it for me from the aesthetic point of view (and yes I see that they can be used on flat roofs). Roof is watertight coz it is relatively new...

Am thinking of making a window opening in the ceiling of my bathroom - the whole house has a flat roof. Am a bit nervous though as the roof is superwatertight and so I am worried about opening myself up to horrors of leakage by gouging out such a hole. Anyone had any experience of doing this...

well new(ish ) house 17 years old, no cracks that I can see, no funny noises!

There is a lot of fine dust falling in one corner of a room where the ceiling meets the outside wall. It also almost looks as though the ceiling is coming away from the wall slightly. It is a top floor room and the roof is a flat roof. Does that sound like a simple re-plastering/decorating job...

I have a problem with leaks from the Y junction that links my washing machine to the cold water supply. Each time a plumber comes he says it doesn't thread straight, tightens it up anyway and then sometimes days, sometimes months later the joint leaks again. Is there a better way to get a...
