thank you for the tip!!! Can you use wood stain on the worktop and then oil lots and lots?

can anyone help? we have bought a Numerar worktop from Ikea and it is much lighter than we expected it to be. I was wondering how i coudl get it darker, is it okay to wood stain it with a varnish then treat with oil? or will the oil then not sink into the wood? any help would be much...
