Selling Scaffolding. How/is there a market for it?

About £50 on eBay or Facebook - only of interest to a DIYer these days.

To cut or not to cut? - that is the question...

Google joist trimming - this is how you create the opening. I would moved it a bit away from the wall as you'll need to fit a trim (like a door architrave) round the opening. Size of opening will be determined by the size of hatch you've bought or made.

    What timbers should i use to make a 3m x 3m span

Looks like "everything" Maybe a few 8x2's across the 3m span on hangers or ledgers if it's being boarded and fairly heavily loaded? Can't see the point of the vertical posts next to perfectly good walls.

    Induction hob buying advice.

We're having one in our new kitchen (wife's choice, influenced by her brother who has one). When we stayed at his house I had 2 issues - firstly, when trying to fry an egg it switched off every time I lifted the pan to baste it - maybe my technique! Secondly, on his version (can't remember which...

Approximate cost for a fixer upper

Looks a bit "bedroom heavy" to me, I'd consider moving a bedroom into the loft and converting bedroom 1 or 2 into additional living space.

2 way switching plus 1 intermediate

Is there more than one way? I've laid cable in like this: but have seen this: I'm not really bothered as long as it works and have loads of 3C+E to use up. Obviously the second diagram using red for all the cables is about as much use a a chocolate teapot for a DIYer. Thanks.

    stitch drilling clean up

Nothing wrong with that, if it's being boarded with plasterboard from the left hand wall you'll probably need to make sure nothing projects more than about 10-15mm.

Stuck in France - Octavia mk 3 popped

Orange light it usually means it's driveable. Obviously not ideal to do so over a long distance but if needs must! I'd be seeing what my policy covers in the first instance - I've seen people thousands out of pocket in this situation - failed repairs, weeks to get parts, onward recovery not...

    Erbauer brushless twin pack, thoughts?

Agree, best tool with smallest battery if you're on a budget. Even the small ones will last till you need a tea break and they charge back up quickly.

    Keeping half a chimney stack

Plenty where I live they've just literally sliced the stack vertically down the middle (well obviously offset from the middle) and flashed and rendered the leftover mess. Try to avoid party wall nonsense, treat it as an urgent repair and get builder with roofing experience or a roofer with...

Loft conversion - temporary support for purlin during floor beam install

Presumably it's a house, so the first floor joists are in the bedrooms below.

Right tool for cutting a 19mm wide slot in a banister rail

I'd slot that on my table saw, otherwise I'd ask a few local joinery companies - the sort that make timber windows and staircase etc. Hopefully one who'd do it in a quiet period for some cash.

Loft conversion - temporary support for purlin during floor beam install

If you stick some acrows/boards under the ceiling to transfer the load down to the first floor joists it should be ok, relying on the ceiling joists could cause cracking of the plaster.

    Loft boarding disaster

Looks good, like a proper loft conversion without all that messy structural support! You'll probably get away with 2 steels in the area of the dwarf walls to hang the joists off and support the rafters, if your engineer agrees then ask him to size them for you. I don't know what the "plan"...
