I do not have a rivet gun. But if I had one, can I rivet through this area without access to the back? Thank-you.

The closer on my metal storm door has pulled away from the holes where the screws went into the metal part of the door. I have tried using larger screws but this soon pulled out of the holes as well. Any thoughts? Thank-you.
