    Central Heating Electrical Fault.

Guys, A big thank-you to all of you!!!!! All seems to be fixed and has run all weekend with no problems - good job considering everything is new or recently new. I have put a new tank stat on now too just in-case. It was plainly obvious to see the wiring fault with the circuit drawn out...

    Central Heating Electrical Fault.

Sounds like we have all come to the same conclusion at the same time. The Room stat COMMON is now the Red cable from CH ON terminal 7 The Room stat ON is now Yellow cable from termnal 8 The Room stat Blue cable is connected to N at the Room stat itself (not OFF) Off now has no...

The small numbers after the wire colours from the programmer refer to wire 1 or wire 2 (the 2 wires that go from the programmer to the j.box upstairs)

Here is the circuit I have drawn from my system. I've not filled in the Live and Neutrals but they obviously go to the programmer and boiler.

I have drawn out the circuit it just needs tarting up and scanning in. Ill get it sorted tomorrow hopefully.

    Central Heating Electrical Fault.

Right I've had a good look at this tonight and seem to have found a discrepancy but still no solution. Looking at the diagram you posed the CH ON wire from the programmer should go to the Common of the Room Stat. On my system it goes to the ON terminal of the Room Stat not the Common. The...

    Central Heating Electrical Fault.

Yeah it is but it's replaced with 3 cores now so all sorted. There a 3 cables in 4 core that i'd need, 2 from programmer to t.box and 1 from room stat to t.box. Like I said earlier I have already replaced these with a temporary piece of cable run up the stairs but I only have enough for 1 run...

You are dead right, a brown, and blue and 2 blacks. Don't ask me why but both black cables were connected at both ends to make 1 wire - BUT this has now been replaced with a new piece of cable.

This is my last hope at the monent but a 50m reel of 4 core is pretty expensive considering i'll never use it - but if that's what it takes no worries.

    Central Heating Electrical Fault.

It's a choc block as per the link earlier in the thread All I know is the cyl stat fused because it was stuck on i.e. no matter how hot the water got it would not stop the boiler.

I'm also thinking of a creating a wiring diagram for the system as it stands now and posting that on here.......

Thanks for the diagram I'll have another look at the wiring as soon as I can - hopefully tonight.

    Central Heating Electrical Fault.

There are definately no leaks as all components are visible in the airing cupboard. The boiler is brand new and there are no leaks anywhere. Like I said I took a single cable and ran it up the stairs then one at a time wired out the 3 that go from downstairs to upstairs and the fault remains...

    Central Heating Electrical Fault.

Well to be honest I am a Mechanical Engineer by trade hence I am very interested and involved in all that has happened and have done whatever research and checking I can myself. I've downloaded wiring diagrams and followed what I can, seperately wired out the 3 cables that run from downstairs (2...
