    Bay windows

You should treat all bay windows as load bearing to be on the safe side. Most window manufacturers have a load bearing system incorporated into their systems just ask

    size windows

Are you thinking of having a large centre pane say 1.8 wide by full height? This size is determined by the max size and spec of the unit. You could then have 3 windows bolted together then. Also check the weight as a 4mm DG unit weighs 22 kg/sq metre. Trust me that is heavy

    Removing Chimney Breast.

Yes it is possible. You will need a structural bracket to support the breast above, this will need to be boxed in afterwards. The last one i did was a triangular shape (specially made). I then vaulted new timbers and plasterboard around it.

    Lintel for new window

The new lintel should be a minimum 200mm longer than the opening. And shame on you for replacing a timber sash window with Upvc

    broken upvc window hinges

You can remove the rivets with a 5mm drill. This will pop the head off, the bit left over will probably fall into the gap underneath. The friction stay should have two slots and one hole to fix through. Use a 4mm pan head screw to fix the new hinges.
