Continuing your post I think they've put underlay on the part ive highlighted in green but not the part in red, sorry I don't know the technical terms.
Could you let me know if that is a really bad thing? Is it something that I need to call them out over? Or could it be legitimate? I paid for...
Hi, I didn't see the prep unfortunately, I've just gone and pulled a bit loose at the edge it seems like from what I can tell the underlay has been applied only on the top of each step and over the lip of the step but not down the entire riser. Is that really bad or just another technique...
Hi,
Just want to check this carpet is installed properly. It mostly seems okay from the top part but the vertical parts and the edges seem not too tight and I can press in at the sides and there is quite some give.
Can anyone with experience tell me if this is fitted properly please.
Thanks
Hi, I'm replacing my carpet. Just removed the old carpet and underlay but there is a chalky white substance underneath the underlay. Wondering if this is anything to be conserned about.
It is only present on the upstairs landing, wasn't on the stairs or other rooms I've decorated previously...
It is semi detached. I've already had it plastered and I'm going to decorate it. There is no other route forward as I've said I've had several "experts" and people on here weigh in and no one has given an adequate solution. Hope the damp proof membrane used by the plasterer can stop it showing...
Well not sure what I should do then. This is what I've been told by members of this forum and other builders so then I'm lost. I'm not an expert and don't have any experience dealing with building or anything like that, I work with computers for a living, so what do I do? I try and speak to...
The chimney was removed previously I'm guessing old soot has caused the damp issue it was stripped back to brickwork and then treated (not swept but some kind of product was used to prevent the damp penetrating) then finished with a breathable plaster.
I'm just going to mist coat and decorate...
Hi,
I had a problem with old soot causing some damp on a wall.
It was hacked back to brick work and treated with some product and plastered with limelite plaster.
It's had several weeks to dry now and I'm ready to think about painting it.
My plasterer suggested a layer of damp proof paint...
Hi,
I recently had 4 rooms plastered in my house.
Mostly it looks okay but on one wall there was an issue with damp after removing the wallpaper. The plasterer suggested removing to the brickwork then using some layer of sealing I guess or damp treatment and then a particular type of plaster...
Hi, can you explain please how you know there are two flues in the upstairs bedroom? Also where should I put the vent? To be clear are we talking about the room directly above the current damp patch (post #10, second picture).
Thanks
Hi,
I'm having this ceiling overboarded later on this week.
I just wanted to know if this is okay for the boards to go directly on or if I should scrape the paper too. I'd initially planned to leave the paper on completely but when I was pulling the coving down the top layer of paper started...
Okay will do! I just need to use the suggested plaster mix right?
Also where should I put the vent? In the bedroom directly above where the damp is? Whereabouts? Cheers!!
