They are red tiles, Belgian apparently 'tuileries du nord', quite attractive. Yes, wavy. Everyone seems to think putting roofing felt on top is out of the question. Will definitely contact Age Concern see if they can be of any help, as he won't consider moving. Thanks for your replies, guys.

My 85 year old dad lives in a 1920's bungalow with original pitched ceramic tiled roof. About 20 years ago he paid for spray-on expanding foam insulation. Unfortunately now the roof is leaking, with this stuff stuck directly on to the back of the tiles and almost impossible to get off to find...
