British Gas 330 Heat only boiler costing me a fortune!

I found the frost thermostat behind the boiler. I guess the boiler kicks in if the outhouse is less than 5 degrees which is all the time at the moment. The water in the system is at 35 degrees and the boiler is still firing. Surely the water in the pipe doesn't need to be 35 degrees for the pipe...

British Gas 330 Heat only boiler costing me a fortune!

Yes, I was thinking the same thing about the pipe thermostat, I think this is where the issue may be. I put my hand on the pipe under the insulation and it was red hot. I would say well above 10 degrees with the heating switched off. Is it a simple job to replace the thermostat?

British Gas 330 Heat only boiler costing me a fortune!

Hi, thanks for your help. The hive frost protection is set at 7 degrees and the pipe thermostat to 10 degrees. Is it safe to turn the pipe thermostat down to minimum? Thanks again

British Gas 330 Heat only boiler costing me a fortune!

Hi, I have a Glow Worm 330 heat-only boiler installed in an outhouse that has a frost protection system that kicks in to stop the pipes from freezing. It has been using between £6-£7 of gas a day when I have been away with work. It's currently -4 degrees so I don't think I can turn the boiler...

    Damp on Bedroom Wall-Cold Bridging?

@^woody^ The rest of the wall sounds solid. There is a small section adjacent to the damp patch that does have a more hollow sound when knocking on it. It looks like in that section of the external wall there may have been a satellite that has been taken down or potentially a vent. The house...

    Damp on Bedroom Wall-Cold Bridging?

Hi, The walls have been plastered and it appears that the section of wall that is damp seems solid. Next to it to the right is has a slightly more hollow sound. The house was built in the 1900's and this is the master bedroom at the front. I'm not sure there will be any insulation in the...

    Damp on Bedroom Wall-Cold Bridging?

Hi, Thank you so much for your reply @^woody^ It looks like there may have been a ventilation vent in the wall that has been rendered over. How can I address this issue in the short term? Will a dehumidifier make any difference along with keeping the room warm till I can afford to get the...

    Damp on Bedroom Wall-Cold Bridging?

Afternoon All, I have recently bought a house and since the temperatures have dropped I have noticed a damp patch on the wall in the upstairs bedroom at the front of the property. (see Pic) The bedroom does have moderate condensation on the windows and I have read about cold bridging and...
