thanks all, the toilet appears to be fixed - I think a combination of hot dishwasher detergent and plunging with a mophead, followed a few hours later with half a bath full of hot water being tipped down it!
Thanks to all, we will try all these things. I believe it is a symphonic system and the problems started about 2 or 3 weeks ago after there was a problem with the tank filling mechanism (it was filling extremely slowly). I have lived here about 7 years from new and never had a problem like this...
Thanks Paul. Where do you think the blockage is - does it need a plumber or a drainage company. Is it worth trying that stuff I've seen mentioned on here - 'one shot ' is it?
Hi john thanks for replying. No we've not tried that as kind of assumed the blockage to be near the toilet as it's an upstairs loo and the water seems to go down at normal speed but then some of it surges back into the bowl.
