yeah it is green and oily - I've just hand tightened the silver disc beneath the valve and it moved probably 1-2mm so it wasn't as tight as it could have been....hopefully that'll fix it.....thanks to all who responded, I'm comfortable working with most things but water I keep a million miles...
The boiler is a year old, was serviced last month and had all the relevant things done at the time (the installer we use is a family business and very trustworthy)......some sort of inhibitor was added to to the system or a magnetic system filter? Plus filled with a solution of Corrosion...
Sorry if this is a stupid question, what's happening here? The pipe is dry, the carpet is dry and the silver bolt where this seems to originate seems tight. This is the third time that I'm seeing this. I have a suspicion my wife may have given the pipe a whack whilst vacuuming (she's on the...
The industry in general.
Next time the Government tells you that product B is superior to product A and that you have to start installing product B even though your professional experience tells you that they're wrong, just grow a pair and say no thank you.
How difficult is it?
I'll take a bomb-proof unit from the 1980s that's 65% efficient in terms of energy usage against a Mickey Mouse "modern" boiler that's going to play up repeatedly (see my posting history) in 2024.
Where do I sign up?
I imagine you're all very proud of yourselves?
Our existing boiler is 28kw. TBH we've lost confidence with the Vaillant (if you view my posting history here you'll see many posts about random boiler behaviour).
It's a bit like a car that starts playing up, whenever you get into it you wonder if it's going to get you from A to B.
Just as...
We're about to replace our ten year old Vaillant EcoTech Pro 28 boiler with a Worcester Bosch 32CDI.
Sorry Vaillant, you aren't fit to lick the boots of our old 40 year old Baxi Bermuda back boiler (which didn't miss a beat and we only replaced because we were told modern boilers are so much...
So this morning the alarm went into limp mode - couldn't set it, couldn't unset it. Box basically just a plastic object on the wall.
Phoned them up, the guy came back today, said it's now a legal requirement for all modern alarms to go into "service mode".
We paid him £55 to put our alarm...
Had a Veritas 8 installed in Feb 2023 and had zone 5 (garage) set to "chime" whenever the door was opened (it does this when the alarm isn't set which is great).
A year to the day after the installation, I opened the house front door and got a two tone chime (the same as we get for the garage...
Is anyone else familiar with the concept of "knocking the nibs off" of roof tiles to get them to "sit flush"?
If so, how do the tiles lock onto the battens?
