A few questions on making pavers / garden path.

In my experience with small lots you won't get the colour exactly matched because it's just too awkward to measure the mix accurately. Also if you use aggregate it will not all be evenly distributed. How about staggering the sections laid with each batch so that it looks like a natural...

wiring a German cooker into a UK home

take a picture of the terminal block of the oven and post here, or even the back of the oven (without the cover). Most ovens throughtout the southern hemisphere are wired in 3 phase + N but all can be converted to single in a few seconds. Normally adding multiple phases to an oven is just to...

    Dimmer switch in France

check the transformer, i am guessing it is a large round tirodial transformer, this is a very heavy and round type of transformer normally secured in the base of the light fitting. It would require a dimmer capable of dimming "trailing edge." Dimmers range in size but just make sure you get a...

A few questions on making pavers / garden path.

before i ask the questions i should set the scene. I have a space of around 14m2 that i wish to cobble/pave. However there are 2 raised garden beds and many round posts supporting retaining walls in the area to be paved. I have retained the area i wish to pave and am ready to start the ground...

    Massive RCD confusion (Australia)

An electrical textbook of about that vintage recommended bare earth wires as maximising the opportunity for any faults to run to earth and blow the fuse. There shouldn't be any bare live wires floating about anyway, and the switches etc are often surrounded by a bare earthed metal back box so...

    Wiring my Shed

I ran the info you supplied through a cable calculator and the mains at 55m run, 20 amp supply (which is enough for your welder + lights) minimum size is 10mm which gives a volt drop of 1.76%. 10mm is an expensive cable so i would step up to a 16mm nuetral screen and drive an earth at the sub...

    Massive RCD confusion (Australia)

cable type indicates age and likely hood of problems. This is why i said "have a tendency to create nuisance tripping."

    Massive RCD confusion (Australia)

Funny, we still use bare earths in new installations without such problems. Ive seen it a ton of times in New Zealand, and we have the same cable types and cert standards as aus for cable imports. NZ and Aus fazed out bare earths in the 70s or 80s, its more a problem with aged cables...

    Massive RCD confusion (Australia)

circuit breakers are not there for personal protection, they are installed to protect the wiring and anything permanently connected to the circuit from short circuit or overload conditions, switchboard replacements involve playing with mains and should only be done by someone with experience...

    pir light

sometimes sensors have a override on them, try switching the power off to the sensor for 30 sec then turn back on, this will reset the sensor. make sure that if you are switching it off with the fuse that when you put the fuse back in you turn the main switch off first. The general way to turn...
