Hi Paul,
I have not resolved the problem fully as of yet.
However, I have been able to make the heating working with a work around solution, which is basically increasing the level at which the minimum flame is set, through the PCB settings.
In order to do so you need to turn a PCB...
Hi Ben,
thanks for your compliments. See your own advice below:
As the sensor & thermostat were also suggested by some people, I was only trying to eliminate possible causes!
Hi namsag,
I don't have any problem in calling someone, but I would like to first be reasonably sure that I need someone. The min burner pressure has indeed been pointed out by several people, however this is still inconsistent with the fact that I am no seeing any flame failure light.
If...
Hi gas4you,
if the min BP was too low, wouldn't I get a flame failure light (i.e. PCB trying to set up flame but flame not present)? I do not get any flame failure error.
I have replaced temp sensor & thermostat, with no change in performance. Did not have much hope in it anyway, but just...
- I was thinking about this, would it be consistent with the faults I'm seeing?
- Could it be that the boiler tries to set a too low gas flow and the valve is not working properly and there is not enough gas for combustion?
- Would the boiler then auto restart if that happened?
Too...
Hi Matt,
GC number is 47-393-06.
I noticed an interesting thing:
The DHW also goes into the on/off loop if the DHW temperature setting is close to the lowest temp.
I did not noticed this before since I always have it on max temp, but it is consistent with the issue with the CH.
When...
I measured:
55-85V DC between 23&24 (a bit low from spec)
22-40V DC between 21&22 (within spec)
Have not been able to measure the currents as I would need to detach the connector from the PCB and wire it back up but with the multimeter in between the connector and the PCB. I can do it if...
Just checked the flame when in CH. When it switches on, I can see a decent flame which after 1 second or so lowers down, stays low for ~2 seconds and then stops. The process starts all over again. Would that be a sign of incorrect min gas setting?
Apparently it has got worse as it now falls...
Hi picasso, thanks for joining in.
Gas pressure has not been checked. However, if the gas pressure was not correct, would that affect the DHW as well as the CH?
I had an engineer in to fit a new 22mm gas pipe about 3 weeks ago, since the last 3-4m of the gas installation were made in 15mm...
No, do Potterton have phone technical support for boiler issues?
I did not think about that route since whenever I call for any other support is never effective, but if you have had a better experience with them I could try.
PCB actually looks very clean. There is one resistor, R73 which looks a bit more brownish than normal, but have measured its resistance and is as per the color code, so I see no reason to suspect.
Just measured the sensor when hot and the reading is around 5.5kohm.
The overheat thermostat is showing good contact, which is strange as manual says it should read >1,5ohm...??
But then if the overheat thermostat was faulty, the DHW would not work either, would it? Unless this thermostat is...
