IP Rating requirement for Garage/Workshop Consumer Unit

Some have seals around the front access cover to give improved dust/water resilience. Edit: Just like the one posted by @Taylortwocities above.

IP Rating requirement for Garage/Workshop Consumer Unit

Assuming purchased from a reputable source. I have had a look on eBay and there are definitely some shady ones on there at ridiculously cheap prices. I doubt they are compliant with many regs.

IP Rating requirement for Garage/Workshop Consumer Unit

I understand where you are coming from but I'm asking "what" the IP rating is required to be, not "IF" it has one.

IP Rating requirement for Garage/Workshop Consumer Unit

I would possibly say a case could be made for 5/4 or even 6/4 given that workshop activity could produce a lot of dust. That's why I asked the question of what the regs require in either a garage or workshop environment. I would, I guess have to go for whichever is higher.

Thanks, I don't have access at the moment but I think they both exceeded that.

IP Rating requirement for Garage/Workshop Consumer Unit

Hi, I'm looking to have mains installed in a detached brick built garage which will primarily be a workshop. I have had a couple of sparks in to quote and they have specified different CU's with different IP ratings. So, question for the sparks on here; Is there a specified requirement for the...

Replace garage door lock with one that can open and lock inside or outside

So would the Starfleet one in my link fit this door? I appreciate I could make it more secure with different solutions but it needs to be fairly simple in operation as mother in law is elderly.

Replace garage door lock with one that can open and lock inside or outside

Looking to replace the door lock on my mother in laws garage because it has no keys. It is an old, pretty standard door as in the attached photos. If I replace like for like it will only be lockable/unlockable from the outside. Ideally I'd like to install one that can be opened/closed/etc. from...

    Fitting a garden gate

As I thought. Think I may bite the bullet and have it open inwards. It will look better and I won't loose a lot of width. Many thanks for the advice. It was good to bounce my thoughts around with you. Much appreciated. Regards Clive

    Fitting a garden gate

But if I hinge the other way when the gate opens the hing will lay flat against the wall, wouldn't it? Wow! that's more than I paid for the gate. Not really worth it I don't think. I'll just have to unscrew it if I need to ;-)

    Fitting a garden gate

Thanks StephenW, that's exactly how I planned it. TBH I hadn't considered the gate furniture, that may be an issue. The gap at the 4x2 end will look a bit odd but I can't see any way around that. May have to rethink my strategy and put up with it opening inwards. Is it ok if I mount the...
