Toilet cistern pipe - should this be there?!

Thanks, will mention that as an option to the plumber. As above, really appreciate the input of those who know what they’re talking about!

Toilet cistern pipe - should this be there?!

Thanks, none taken! Although I’m definitely clueless it’s really handy to have forums such as this so I can understand what is involved and what I need to ask my newfound friendly plumber to do.

Toilet cistern pipe - should this be there?!

Thanks, so it’s a replacement standpipe that’s needed (pic in my first post from Screwfix). At present it’s a standalone tube that means it overflows onto the bathroom floor - please could you tell me the name of the extra part I’d need to buy to connect it to something else and if it’s doable...

Toilet cistern pipe - should this be there?!

Thanks, at least I have a plumber who turns up now as I think it may need an overhaul in that case. I’ve never had cause to look closely in the cistern and even if I did it wouldn’t have occurred to me that that pipe led t the floor! I only found out about overflow pipes from googling what the...

Toilet cistern pipe - should this be there?!

Following on from my recent post I contacted another plumber who arranged to come over and quote for removing a loft water tank and altering the pipes to supply mains cold to the bathroom. They arrived earlier than planned as their earlier job that day took less time than anticipated and so...

Shower set up - mains/tank, is this a problem?

The problem is I don’t want to waste multiple plumbers time by getting quotes at the same time in the hope that one of them will get back to me... so I’ll contact one, wait for him to get back to me, wait for him to come out and look, wait for a quote (that never materialises) then by that time...

Shower set up - mains/tank, is this a problem?

I’m in North Bucks... Yep, the mains cold for the electric shower comes up from the floor under the bath for a few inches before it’s chased into the wall. The taps are at the other end (currently separate hot and cold). Ideally I’d get the piping sorted properly and get rid of the tank in...

Shower set up - mains/tank, is this a problem?

Yep, the problem is that the hot tap of the bath is mains and the cold tap of the bath is tank fed so the pressure is different.

washing machine waste and cold feed over 5m

I had a similar issue with the siting of a washing machine that was previously in the garage... I was advised to check the manual of the washing machine as they stipulate the length of pipe that the pump is capable of dealing with. My machine (fairly modern at 2 years old) has a limit of 3.2 metres

Shower set up - mains/tank, is this a problem?

Thanks, I was hoping there was something I could do to enable me to use the thermostatic mixer taps with the set up I have now as the local plumbers don’t seem interested in doing the job to alter the pipework and fit the taps/shower. The electric shower is at one end of the bath (I’d leave...

Shower set up - mains/tank, is this a problem?

I wouldn’t have a clue how to go about changing the mains, there is a mains pipe at the other end of the bath for the electric shower but my skills are limited to making tea for tradesmen! I’d be prepared to attempt fitting the thermostatic mixer taps myself as I’m desperate for the shower - I...

Shower set up - mains/tank, is this a problem?

I have a newly fitted combi boiler, which replaced the existing combi boiler, however I still have a tank in the loft which feeds the bathroom with cold water (bath/basin/toilet). I know this is not the correct set up. The whole point of replacing the combi boiler was so that I could have a...

Q for those familiar with MagnaCleanse flush

I'm fine with getting the water from the bleed screw but wasn't sure how to get some from the drain cock, the youtube videos I'd seen had the drain cock buit into the valve whereas mine are separate. Would be grateful for any pointers... pic attached. It was a combi boiler replaced with a combi...

Q for those familiar with MagnaCleanse flush

Thanks, I don't think the radiators have any cold spots, and they didn't before either as the heating was working OK - I only had the boiler replaced as the hot water wasn't working. A Worcester Bosch version of the MagnaClean was fitted, I'll have a look at some youtube videos to see how to...

Q for those familiar with MagnaCleanse flush

Thanks, I can see from the photo that it was connected but I'm doubtful that it was connected when the VibraClean was done... reason being is that he only did the VibraClean after I prompted him, saying that I'd seen on the website it was part of the flush. I've got no criticism of the fitter in...
