  • I had this problem myself. There was a noise in the airing cupboard which was the valve packing up. After that I could only have my heating on if the boiler was fired up, but then I could not get hot water. I managed like that for 5 years. Had a new boiler, new valve, new timer fitted in May. Today the timer packed up and I can't turn it off. Since the boiler was fitted I can hear trickling water when I put the boiler on. I never heard this is the old boiler (Potterton fitted in 1980 was still working when I decided to update. I wish I had left it alone). All the radiators work okay. Is trickling water something I should worry about or learn to ignore it. Would welcome any advice. Many thanks. Jean.
