    Cold cold new shower

Good news... Bristan supplied a new mixer part - very quickly and free of charge - and i've replaced the original one (which had one of the four washer/seals missing - whether that was a factor i don't know) - anyway, the good news is I now have a lovely hot shower. Thanks for all the help.

    Cold cold new shower

"Out of interest, if you set the shower to cold and run the hot tap on the bath, boes it run cool or even cold ? If it does then you need a non return check valve on the hot "--- do you mean does the shower run cold or the bath tap run cold? Bristan are now sending me a new thermostatic mixer...

    Cold cold new shower

Thx Dunny and Tryit. I have turned on the shower, and the cold taps in the bath (and then the sink ! ), and the amount of water that came out of the shower was only a trickle (and cold !) which suggests to me that the hot feeder is blocked or the mixer is blocked. I didn't fit the shower...

    Cold cold new shower

Well i wasn't able to do a test last night, but having spoken to Bristan (manufactures) today, they suggest that my cold water feed might be too powerful, so to test for this, to turn on my shower to a hot setting, and turn on my bath cold tap at same time (to reduce the cold water pressure) -...

    Cold cold new shower

Re: Boiler firing up or not.. I will try that tonight and see if the boiler fires up. Generally, how easy is it to dismantle the parts where the 2 feeder pipes (hot+cold) feed into the thermostatic bit of the shower :?: Will i need special tools? I will attach a photo later (or a link...

    Cold cold new shower

How can I check for a cross-feed ? I don't think the supplies are the wrong way round as the Cold feeder is stone-cold and i feel the water running thru it. But i'm open to ideas. I know nowt about plumbing so laymens terms please !

    Cold cold new shower

After more attempts to get hot shower, i've noticed the following: If i run the Bath hot tap, AND the shower, the Shower hot inlet gets hot, but still no warm shower. When i turn off the Bath hot tap, and Shower inlet stays hot, but very rapidly cools to cold when i alter the temperature...

    Cold cold new shower

I've spoken to the makers and they suggest to turn the temperature setting to the coldest, run shower for 2 minutes, then slowly turn the temp setting (spindle) towards the warmer setting and leave the shower running for 5 minutes until desired temperature is met. Wish me luck...!

But we have had some warmth out of the shower initially, but after that first trial, it's just been cold.

    Cold cold new shower

Hi, We've had a new thermostatic shower installed (It's a Napier Cascade make) along with a new Worcester boiler. The initial test of the shower produced a nice warm/hot water so all was well. When we come to actually use it, all i can get is stone cold water.! The hot water feeder...

    Treating Internal Pine Doors ?

Is Briwax on its own good enough to seal Pine doors :?: I like the colour of natural pine so would like to keep it as Piney as possible. :!:

    Treating Internal Pine Doors ?

Brand new doors, untreated, soon to be put on by joiner. When should I treat them - before or after fitting ? If after (as advised by my joiner), it seems impossible to treat underneath the door ! Also - any pro's and con's with what to treat them with please ? Thanks in advance

Advice for decorating over dried damp-affected-plaster

We had a hole in the roof above the stairs that led to a damp patch in plaster of about 1+ metre square. We are about to re-decorate (paint) and have been advised to cover the damaged plaster with special paint to stop chemicals leaching thru the new paint and showing the patch that was damp...

Thanks... (how do I top up the pressure ?) Also: What do I do with all 4 nuts ? (Do I unscrew each pair above the Knobs nearest the Rad and leave the pair below the Knobs untouched...or vice-versa?)
