If your having carpet with underlay, then theres a simple and cost free way round it.
The fitter will simply finish the underlay to the hearth, which should be same or similar height as the underlay thickness then carpet will simply flow over the hearth.
Itll he solid as theres no underlay...
Yes, correct
The system 10, double stick method as advised by the pros will never become baggy due to the whole area of the material being adhered to the floor etc..
Let us know how you get on..
Mike
Well....
You could do it like that........
I wouldnt...
That 'advice' needs taking down asap.
they need an email fired their way quickly, telling them they have no idea what they talking about....
Altogether too much wrong info there
Only reason i can assume why they have...
I didnt understand a word of all that pmsl
Have you got a pic of the offending floor we could see, best advice can be given then.
Daz advice is spot on
But as with all advice, all the facts need to be present & understood for the best answer
Ok, i can appreciate where your coming from, based on your assumptions from the website..
Could you post the link of the site up for us to see?
If they are advocationg sisal as a diy install then thats really very naughty and misleading as you are seeing here from us pros, that is most def...
If you get a lighter colour of LVT then the fading of direct sunlight wont appear to be affected as badly as a darker coloured one etc
Nearly every LVT manufacturered today has a PU (polyurathane coating) to it wihich helps protect from uv rays from fading (doesnt stop it) and also helps...
Dave, have you fitted much of the clicks? how'd you get on with them?
This is prob for another conversation lol
But in no way would i advise a floating click LVT anywhere where there is direct sunlight or high temp.
No way in the world....
I appreciate its a diy forum and advice is sought and digested etc
But as an experienced fitter of over 20 years, i would def not recommend sisal as a diy install whatsoever.
Can i ask whats making you attempt this yourself?
Have you had a price for fitting it and you think its too expensive...
Can only buy full rolls of the iso membrance 20x2m wide
Wholesalers do not sell cuts
Best way would be to find someone local who has some leftover sitting in stock
15 - 20mm thick?
Yup, will work no problem for carpet to carpet.
Affix to floor and gripper both edges, fit carpet
Bobs yer uncle
unless your carpet is like a 40mm saxony lol
 OMG
That is cr@p
the design has stepped out on him & he hasnt caught it
Deffo needs re-done
Also can you take a pic of the adhesive tubs so we can see what hes used, should either be F46 or F48
Is it an engineered click floor or a solid glue down affair?
You cant lay anything on top of that bitumen mate
Your gonna have to scrape the lot up before you can do anything first
Good luck with that
You'll also have to put a dpm on the floor unless youve got moisture readings below 65%
Its def looks like a fault line
The lines are too straight and 'in lin' with each other to be a crease or anything else tbh
Deffo a refund or replacement in order
More likely to be a replacement
In all honesty the fitter really shouldve known this was a flaw at the time of installation...
