yeah the old fitting is L N N L which makes sense for the loop in loop out but seeing the state of the wiring wasn’t ideal when I thought it would be a simple swap out job

That’s the old light. All five down lights wired the same

The pic is the old lights that I have pulled out. Never seen wiring like that so wasn’t even sure if it was safe to put a new down light in as stands. In this case just sheath the exposed earth and wire as usual then? That should be okay

Hi all, Gone to change the 5 downlights in the bathroom after they no longer work and come across this. Can anyone advise how to wire this into LAP IP65? I can’t locate a shop that sells the version of downlight below so picked up LAP IP65 as best for bathrooms. Might this be a whole new wiring...
