these are not a normal boiler as you know them, you need to get a powermax aware/trained engineer to check them over i look after plenty of these and there are certain things needed to be checked,tread carefully mate
was it only your lights or sockets as well?
if it tripped sockets etc then its a good chance the element or wiring to it is breaking down and it will happen again which will have to be sorted, if it was only lighting then you have a problem as 3kw elements and 1.5mm cable dont mix well :shock:

yes its an old style safety valve which would have been fitted to your old system,you need to plug it off now (1/2"bsp plug) as its not needed any more its not made to take the pressure of your new sealed system thats why its started leaking.

these are not conventional cylinders as such they are thermal stores
which are mains fed through a coil or plate exchanger depending on what model you have,is the stat set at around 75 degrees? if so it is probably scaled up giving no heat transfer if it was the blending valve it wouldnt...
the company doing the works etc should sort out all the cleaning/flushing with the right machine/equipment especially taking out that boiler and putting in a band A one.

this is a mains fed combi which should have a filling loop somewhere conected to the mains to fill,what does gauge say on front of boiler?
why is the cylinder still there pump and cold feed etc etc this should have all been removed...
i dont know why your "off duty"BG engineer told you to wait 2 weeks to add inhibitor! by the looks he was more intrested in taking the scrap etc
also it was his job and responsability so he should have added it there and then along with other things, it makes me wonder how 7 out of 10 jobs go...
