Softus I have been up to have a look at the feed and expansion cistern and there is plenty of water in there. also had a look at the float valve and all seems ok. Still working ok at the minute so may be just a small amount of air that you first suggested.

Softus, I have looked as suggested and there is no pressure gauge any where to be seen. Having read the handbook it seems that it is not a sealed system. Having got up this morning it seems to be working ok still :D Thanks again for your help

Hi Softus, I do believe there is some inhibitor in the system as there is an empty bottle on the expansion tank in the loft. I seems to be working at the minute. Thanks for you quick reply

Hi, I got home this evening and noticed no heating. looked at the boiler (powermax 140 combi) and the burner had locked out. Having reset it the burner lit but still no heating! Tried turning on the hot tap and no problems there. Had a quick look at the boiler and removed the centre screw...
