I'm looking to replace the plastic roof on a large lean-to shed. The shed is against the garage and the roof is tucked in just below the slates on the garage roof.
Doesn't look like enough room to get any flashing in there. The existing roof has somehow been bent up, but not sure how that was...
We moved into our current house a couple of years ago. The area directly in front of the house was gravel, with blue plastic sheeting underneath.
Looked OK when we moved in - doesn't now. Lots of patches of blue plastic which aren't very appealing.
So, first question would be how to sort this...
I'm looking to insulate my 1950s detached garage. I thought I'd start on the roof by fixing some 100mm Celotex directly on top of the joists.
My main concern is about ventilation / moisture issues, which I have to say I'm not too clued up on. From reading around there seems to be lots of...
Hi,
Just had a granite worktop put in the kitchen. Noticed that some oil left on the surface actually soaked in and left a mark (fortunately this bit was getting replaced anyway).
But seems like I need some kind of stone sealer to prevent this happening in future.
I've had a look online and...
I agree in sentiment, but believe me, it'll be an improvement on what is in there whatever I have.
Timber is still not completely ruled out but if the windows above come in significantly cheaper I will be considering them.
I'm looking to replace a couple of windows in a character house. The existing windows are pretty ugly uPVC and many of the panes have blown.
I had a couple of quotes for timber and both came in north of £6k. If I really can't find any decent looking uPVC windows I may bite the bullet, but I'm...
The 200mm is the clearance above the line of the lintel. There is another 800mm below that.
And as mentioned I would be lining the chimney with ducting.
I've just had an old chimney breast opened up in the kitchen and am going to stick our cooker in there. As there is a clear route out I'd obviously like to vent an extractor up the old flue - which in itself is not a problem.
The problem is down to the shape of the chimney. The flue feeds off...
House was built in 1919, although I don't know if the roof is original. I had one side of it retiled in the summer as a matter of urgency as it was leaking. The guy who did it (wouldn't recommend) said he hadn't seen a roof built that way before.
Basically it has a layer of weatherboard which...
Thanks fellas.
Having had a poke around it seems that condensation from within is the least of my worries. Roll on Spring I think I'll be having a fair bit of rotten wood and leaky render replaced...
For the time being I'm going to use 100mm celotex in the gaps as I have some arriving tomorrow...
