Composite decking for decorative garden planter - sub-frame needed?

Hey guys and gals I have a large box planter in the garden that is made of brick and then skimmed. There was a timber sub-frame fitted to this that was then covered with timber decking. Something like this The boards were screwed vertically to the timber sub-frame and all looked pretty...

Broken granite slab - can it be repaired?

Hey all - quick update I managed to get hold of a replacement slab that matches! What's the best way to set this ... I'm thinking a mix of builders sand and cement bed and then lay it on that and wait for it to set?

Condensation in small box room with North facing wall

Sadly the bed can't be repositioned due to the warm side being where the door is situated. We keep the headboard butted against the warm side though and have a few cm gap of the bed from both the cold end and the window side.

Condensation in small box room with North facing wall

Hi all I have a small box room used by my eldest son with a North facing wall and a bay window facing East. As we are in a conservation area we have old timber windows (with secondary glazing) but most winters we get a lot of condensation in this room. The inner window frames are getting...

Broken granite slab - can it be repaired?

Thanks both! ooh CT1 - never heard of it @catlad ... but google has come to the rescue. This stuff right? https://www.toolstation.com/c-tec-power-grab-n-bond-construction-adhesive/p74688 ... or there is also a CT1 'sealant and adhesive' and I can get that in clear or white but I don't think...

Broken granite slab - can it be repaired?

So my son somehow managed to crack one of our outdoor patio granite slabs. I've not researched too much but previous retailer no longer supply these and they were fitted 10 years ago so might struggle to find something that won't look too obviously different. I have the two broken...

Door restrictor options for composite door

Hi all I have a composite door that I would like to restrict from opening out more than 90 degrees as it is slamming against an external wall. The restrictors I've seen online all require a groove in the door for the mechanism to slot into but as the door is composite I don't have that. Also...

Rodents entry via air brick and how to block?

Cheers guys ... I image that meshing would need to sit on the outside though somehow. Might not look so great. I saw some specific rodent proof vents on Amazon - 16 quid a pop seems steep though for a frame and a mesh in the shape of an air brick. Thinking this might be an alternative -...

Rodents entry via air brick and how to block?

Hi all Heard some scratching under the floorboards last night and I fear we may have unwelcome guests. Hoping it's mice but you never know it could be those 'other' guys :( I've had a quick look outside the house this morning and noticed that a few of our plastic vents seem to have holes in...

    Painting concrete shed base slab

Hi all We have a rather large concrete slab in the garden on which a 10x8 shed is sitting. It pings out against the rest of the garden and I'm thinking of painting it a dark grey / green colour to hide it away. Do you have any recommendation on which paints could be used suitable for outdoor...

Do i need to seal knots before staining?

Hi all We have some decking planters that I am looking to stain with an oil based colour. The decking has a few knots in it and I'm wondering if I first need to treat these somehow - e.g. sealing? and if so what are the best ways to do this? Cheers for advice!

    DPC under a shed?

I'm very much wise after the event :( Seems like getting some mini guttering is a sensible route - that may end up being all I need to ensure water stays off the concrete slab / prevents splash back However - the slab base is much larger than the shed - I've just not managed to put it...
