Floor joists in attic not supported?

Is any of this a problem taking into account the house is 1940’s semi and, apart from a leaky roof, there seems to be no other problems. Leave well alone?

Floor joists in attic not supported?

Interesting thought. Assumed they were there to stop the joists from spreading?

Floor joists in attic not supported?

Yep, planning to store Xmas decs etc. previously old furniture has been stored up there which probably account for the cracked ceiling

Floor joists in attic not supported?

Sorry, I’m a total amateur so wasn’t sure what what I was talking about

Floor joists in attic not supported?

It looks as if the joist is nailed on to the rafters (?). As you can see from other pics the joists seem to be a bit haphazard (to my eye). Stopping in the middle of the floor etc. I’ve had a fiddle with the joist and there’s no movement on it at all. I’m assuming it’s being supposed by the...

Floor joists in attic not supported?

Can’t see any signs of support at all. On the ceiling below there is a hairline crack running the length of the joist above but as the ceiling is artex I always just assumed it was a crack in that. Will post pics when I get up there shortly

Floor joists in attic not supported?

I haven’t dared put weight on it but I tried lifting it and it doesn’t budge

Floor joists in attic not supported?

Right, I’m still in the attic, in the process of boarding but have a question. The floor joists do not touch the wall at the party wall. There’s a two inch gap and I can feel all the way round it. It runs from the loft hatch to the wall. No visible signs of support in bedroom below. The house is...

    Damp rafters

That’s quite possible. There are different tiles up there, bit of a bodge job (not me). Thought for the day is: leave or so something about it?

    Damp rafters

Afternoon! Been up in the loft to board it and these rafters are damp to touch. I don’t think it’s a condensation issue as there are tiles missing, so plenty of fresh air wafting about. Any thoughts on whether this is a major issue that’s needs sorting or any remedial action I can take, apart...

    1940’s bay window damp?

Just don’t get it. Been in the house 26 years and never had it before. Going to do the old tin foil trick for a few days and see what happens.

    1940’s bay window damp?

We have a 1940’s tile hung bedroom bay window which appears to have black/mold all over the inside, underneath the window. Have checked the tiles and siliconed any gaps and made sure all flashing is secure. There also appears to be a shadow of the interior battens showing through. No evidence...
