Yes probably should have done that at the same time. I might get lucky and just be able to replace the flush cartridge. For the time being I’ve flipped the washer over.
right so I replaced the whole thing with a flomasta. Had to take the cistern off as the valve flow bolt was recessed under the cistern and near impossible to access.
Put everything back, checked for leaks and cistern was filling up properly and float worked.
BUT no sooner had I screwed...
Wonder why that is. Even on the video it says it fixes 7 out of 10 times.
Will try replacing the valve. It’s going to be fiddly getting up and under the toilet!
Thank you for the video- very helpful. The arm and valve are in the right place but definitely raising the float either by letting the cistern fill up or doing it manually doesn’t stop the water.
It was a new valve from screwfix. I briefly swapped them back and the float worked again only to...
Got the valve this morning in and replaced it. Saw the old one was shredded and popped the new one in.
Now the cistern keeps filling beyond the float even though the float moves up when the water reaches it. Can’t figure out why it’s not shutting off?
I had a fiddle as all of a sudden the water kept running. Shut the water off, turned the plastic white anticlockwise and opened up the water supply. Filled much faster and touch wood not overfilling.
Going to get a replacement part just in case.
Morning all
Appreciate there are a few posts on this but recently I’ve noticed that the cistern is taking ages to fill up. The supply is fully open so it must be the flush valve.
When it fills up it’s more like a fine spray than a steady flow of water. It does stop filling though.
Any...
Good news and bad news I got the hose off- never seen an attachment like that before (see photo). Problem is that I can’t pass it up though the hole/fitting.
I’ve removed everything now and replaced with a spare hose but can’t figure out how to get the old one back through the fitting. I can...
