Update: Boiler worked ok for a few days then started cutting out again. Kristoflampie: said Well I gave up in the end and got a GORGI guy in and the fault was a weak pilot light, changed it for a new one plus a new thermocouple for good measure and she's working like a good un again. so...

Baxi Solo cutting out - help needed

Thanks for the prompt reply chaps, PEDANTICVINDICTIVEMAN: The boiler was moved last year by a Corgi reg'd company and serviced (although they didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing). Had the flue out last night, clear as a bell. Kristoflampie:Makes a lot of sense. Looking through...

Baxi Solo cutting out - help needed

Hi all I have a Baxi Solo (conventional boiler) about 10 years old, which has suddenly started cutting out. I go through the usual procedure to relight the pilot, switch on the hot water timer, boiler ignites but will cut out after about 50 seconds. The whole bolier switches off, pilot light...

    Pumped CH Overflow

Mmmm an interesting one, four pipes at the boiler, one has to be gas (I assume it is a gas fired boiler) the other cold feed from the header tank and the two remainding (22mm) flow return. I would agree with the others, if it was pumped surplus going into the header tank then it would be...

    smelly house!

Hate to say this, but .... it could be wet / dry rot, fungal growth has come into contact with heating pipes, hence the smell. You really need to get some floor boards up fast and see whats going on. If it is dry rot you need expert help. Dave.

    CH Draining

I normally just drain the upstairs only, and close the valves on the upstairs rads I'm not touching (that's if your sure they don't let water by, and make sure you make a note of the lockeshield valve setting, number of turns, so you can set the system back to it's previous state.

BL**DY *ELL corgiman "luckily chaps like that are in the majority " - I hope you mean in the minority  Joking aside that's a valid point about the joint, I'll get it checked out. Thanks for the feedback. Dave.

    What Tape

Well-said Chris, Buuuuuut, as with all things in life you get good ones and bad ones (in this case plumbers) I had cause to move my gas central heating boiler recently, put a few systems in myself in the past (with a plumber), but I thought - Gas, Corgi, My house! So got a Corgi...

bolier lit but not firing, radiators cold.help please?

Sounds like an electrical problem to me, silly question but is the room stat calling for heat? Normal way to increase heat is to up the room stat not the boiler stat. Could do with a meter on the room stat output to check it.

    Flow / return pipesizes

Thanks for the feedback - it's confirmed my suspicions. I think I'll replace the 15mm pipe with 22mm before the new carpets go down. Mind you, the company said it would take one plumber half a day to move the boiler and it would cost me £250. In the end it took four of them two full days...

    Flow / return pipesizes

I've just had a new coni built on the back of our house which meant the existing central heating boiler had to be moved. I've installed a few systems in the past but wanted a Corgi Registered company to do the job (my house!). I was a bit unsure about the pipe sizes he used, took 22mm copper...
