Yes they both run at mains pressure. I tried it again yesterday and it now seems fine. I'll keep an eye on it though. Thanks for your help.

Both the bathroom hot and cold tap are currently producing hot water. I have an electric boiler, and do not have any central heating. The water pipes have been making rattling noises for a few weeks now when the hot water tap was turned on, but I presumed this was just a temporary problem...
