Wiring under ground to front boundary

Thank you all for your recommendations. The groundwork contractor is ordering and installing flexible ducting during the preparatory work. I had better keep watch to ensure a drawrope is inserted otherwise I'll be in the mire. David

Wiring under ground to front boundary

I have arranged for a block paving driveway to be installed and new fences erected. It has been suggested to me that after the old drive has been removed by the groundwork contractors I lay sufficient SWA cable from the house to the front boundary in case I ever need lighting, sensors or even an...

    Moving stop cock

Thank you all for your advice and I will tell youi what I did In the end I gently turned back the pipe by around 180 degrees and it was approx 18 inches off the ground. I fixed it to the wall using three 22mm pipe brackets which were necessary to hold it firm. They were a devil to get on and...

Height of washing machine under worktop

Thank you leccy. I suppose it does also give manufacturers alternatives for making machines to fit under lower worktops. I am still wondering whether I should leave the machine with a gap of 50mm between the worktop and the machine or raise it up on the additional feet. It may make it easier...

Height of washing machine under worktop

I am going to instal an integrated Hotpoint washer dryer under a worktop which has 870mm of height available. The height of the machine can be adjusted to between 815 and 835mm by screwing the feet. the 150mm plinth will fit in front. However there are bars and extra feet supplied which can...

    Moving stop cock

Thank you all for the suggestions. I am a bit wary about cutting a bit off the pipe and taking it to the supplier in case he does not have a new fitting. The present stop cock is nearly 50 years old unfortunately lets a drip of water through so needs attention and I don't know whether it could...

    Moving stop cock

I have ordered new kitchen units, the fitting of which will mean that the stop cock is beyond the sink unit and behind the washing machine which will not make it easily accessible. The rising main is a black rubber/plastic material about 900mm long and runs all the way under the sink unit...

    Central Heating stopped working

Thank you alf. I believe it is the motorised valve. The system has a Siemens MA-V322C which has been commented on previously on this forum. I have discovered I can purchase a whole replacement unit with the brass body or just the top electrical box which clips on to the lower part. I have...

One radiator in CH system does not work

Thank you again for your responses. The radiator does not have a thermostatic valve and alhough I have had some success the radiator took some time to warm up this morning. I appreciate the system requires balancing and there is flow resistance as during the whole saga I have shut down all...

One radiator in CH system does not work

Mandate- your reply prompted me to look at the equipment. There is no by-pass valve as I have a 3 port diverter valve. I checked out the pump and changed a head setting and subsequently found the radiator had warmed up. Wonderful. Thanks for your advice

One radiator in CH system does not work

Thank you Nige. The pipes are all 1/2 inch. Karl. Thanks for your further interest. I confirm the bedroom radiator gets hot and I can get hot water down both pipes by undoing the valve nuts, drain cock and bleed valve. I have taken the radiator off a number of times and there is nothing to...
