picture is a bt misleading sorry. Brown joins brown, Blue joins blue and the yellow/green terminates into the plate. its the thin cable i wondered about as this joins the black and carries through into the heater itself. i will disconnect at terminal block. not sure where the thin wire...

with the old heater, it connects into the circuit board of the heater, along with Brown and Blue . This heater was a Chronopass type which has a pilot etc. with mynew heater, it does not require the extra cable, so i can only assume its a pilot of some sort?

i used the 3 type cabling and just left the black wire loose inside the heater. however, after 2 minutes i smelt a burning smell, took out the heater, and the black casing of the black cable seemed to be a little bit damaged. so it spooked me and thought i would check here i cant see any...

you can see the Earth Live and Neutral fromthe fused switch into the backbox. there is also the think cabling coming into the backbox into a terminal with the black wire. Am i correct in assuming this is some sort of Pilot?

just on another note, how can you tell its ring circuit just from the pictures i gave?

that idea saves a lot of work! i was just going to leave the fused switch where it is,ie live, but remove anything coming from it. it would still be marked on the MCB, just without any connection after the fused switch. not sure if this is Ok though

there is a spare place for another CB, so could go in there i suppose you mean the part of the ring from the hall heater to the lounge heater? i only wanted to see if this was viable as i dont want to buy another heater! another heater is 80-100 quid, so would probably be cheaper than...
