Thanks Chris. I'll be getting a plumber around to change the pump, since I don't want to mess the boiler up this time of year! I wasn't given a boiler manual when I bought the house, but will take a look for the jumpers.

Hi, I have a (1992) Vaillant Combi boiler VCW GB221H. Last month it failed (both hot water & heating). No apparent relay / pump action. Recently I have found that if I vigorously turn / agitate the impeller (it's not particularly free-running - should it be?) on the pump before switching...
