    Cold return on radiator.

Hi, Sorry for the slow reply. I thought I had better post the outcome. Called a plumber in the end. Well, four of them. One said it wasn't cold. Another ran away, almost literally. Third didn't want the task as there was a light carpet. I wasn't there, but I'm told the 4th tried to clear it...

    Cold return on radiator.

Hi, I tried pointing the flow valve into a bowl and raising the pressure on the boiler gauge to 1 bar. In terms of flow, there was clear water coming out but it was not fast. Hard to describe, but was projecting a couple of inches or so beyond the valve before falling to the bowl. Dave.

    Cold return on radiator.

That's correct. I'll try that if you think it's worthwhile. There is some heat from the flow side and the flow pipe itself is baking hot.

    Cold return on radiator.

I tried closing all other radiators. No change to the problematic one. To confirm the return isn't blocked, I connected a hose to the drain off on the lockshield valve. Turned off the TRV. Let the water flow out the hose and opened the filling loop. Water continued to flow out. I'm at a loss...

    Cold return on radiator.

The valves are new, and the flow side pipe and side of the radiator gets hot. I didn't check the flow side pipe for flow, given it gets red hot. Am I incorrect to assume that? There was a decent flow from the return with the filling loop open slightly.

    Cold return on radiator.

Hi, I'm trying to make a radiator in a living room heat up. The flow pipe at the radiator gets very hot. Return stays cold. It's as if there is no flow through the radiator. Temperature difference is much greater than on other radiators. The system is on 10mm pipe. I presume, but don't know...

    1 way light circuit query

Hi, Just to conclude the thread, my diagram, as suggested, is nonsense. The light switch is by Hager and has a loop terminal built in as ericmark suggested. Search "Hager Sollysta" for examples. Thanks.

    1 way light circuit query

Hi, A family member has a switch in a bedroom. The house was recently rewired and passed the tests etc.etc. I'm not claiming it is incorrect, but merely trying to improve my understanding. (Out of curiosity more than anything else). Neutrals are typically "in the switch" for this house. The...

    multifinish over multifinish, how soon?

Hi bobasd, I didn't do the dot n dab. Believe me, I wish I had ripped the thing off in the first place. Thanks for your help. Dave.

    multifinish over multifinish, how soon?

Hi, I scraped off the still wet scratch coat after I saw the cracks forming. I didn't take photos. It seems to be dot n dab plasterboard. When I first got to it, it was uneven and had patches of undercoat plaster. I levelled what I could with bonding plaster. Then I skimmed with multifinish...

    multifinish over multifinish, how soon?

Hi, I skimmed a wall but ended up with a slight bow into the wall which I think I can correct with another thin application of multifinish plaster. Essentially, it's not quite flat. I guess my preparation was insufficient. I left it two weeks, applied liberal amount of 2:1 PVA, let it dry...

    PVA before blue grit

Hi 23vc, Just to let you know, I followed your advice and all went well. Thanks again. Dave.

Many thanks. Most appreciated. Regards, Dave.

    PVA before blue grit

Hi, Firstly, I'm 100% DIY so bare with me. I've been asked to skim some walls for a friend who's had a tough time. Long story. I've had skimming success before but I'm now out of my depth :) 1. I've put PVA on the painted walls. 2:1 ratio. I just couldn't scrape the paint off so hoped it...

    Flow and return mixed up

Yes. Is does to me. Personally, I think he has piped it up backwards, but I'm often too picky. I wouldn't have left it that way.
