For the best results you should definately be looking to use an mdf veneered board. Consitant and stunning when finished. The staves are good but look like lots of skinny parts glued together and 'will' still move. American white oak purchased from any supplier will be the same...
You can do this. Basically 3 or 4 bookcases fitted together (3.4m ) in such a way so you dont see the carcass uprights. Your problem will be getting the cutting list correct and then done. The rest is a big jigsaw puzzle of which you know where all the pieces go !

All is not lost and the fact you are on a DIY forum suggests to me you are capable of such a project. Cutting down sheets will be your main issue. There are many places this can be done for you having supplied them an accurate cutting list. The cabinets are all the same construction...

Sounds like you know enough about the effect of any treatment on new oak. All treatments will colour the oak to some degree with the exception of Bona. Great product but expensive. Designed firstly for floors but I have used Bona Natural on many oak projects including many counter tops...
