They are obscure windows and dont open. We also have them down our side and dont really provide much light. Ours is a small window the kitchen roughly at worktop height so assume that the neighbours will be the same, though they have 2 and the one at the front goes into the front room.

immersion is off and the water in the cylinder is near enough cold. though good point it might have initially started when the immersion was on, water was boiling and the boiler has heating the water. Could something have broken and why doesnt it do it when the HW and CH are both on
