    best way is with screws and washers (cant beat a mechanical fixing)

    the advice you have been given seems ok.. not sure if i would worry about the pva though... dont over do it with the waterproofer either(look on container for quantity) washed plastering sand is good.. ps...self employed plasterer 25yrs
