    Painting Skirting-Wall junction

Yes, it is sorry. It’s quite subtle. These two photos might be better - a comparison of two in my house. The teal is crisp and seamless. The one in question almost looks like I haven’t painted the top of the skirting all the way to the way (even though I have) - like there’s a bit I missed. It...

    Painting Skirting-Wall junction

It’s quite subtle but immediately above the skirting the wall paint looks almost bright white which glows. It looks like white caulk has been applied after and not painted over. Therefore, when you look at the skirting you get this white glowing band all the way along. Must be something to do...

    Painting Skirting-Wall junction

Hi, I’ve used Dulux heritage (light French grey) to paint a bedroom wall then farrow and ball purbeck stone (estate eggshell for the skirting). I did the wall first and painted onto the skirting slightly to ensure there would be no unpainted bits near the wall-skirting junction. I then cut in...

    Farrow & Ball Undercoats

Hi, I have some interior woodwork I want to do in a few bedrooms - doors, sash windows and skirting. I wanted to use their estate eggshell topcoat. Is their dedicated undercoat the best to use or do other brands work better? For instance, would Zinsser 123 plus be a better undercoat for sash...

    Cladding a Kitchen Extension

Hi, We have a kitchen extension which has failed render (all delaminated). I don’t really like render. Unfortunately the bricks underneath don’t look good so I was thinking about cladding it. I want a fairly rustic look so was considering wooden cladding. Any advice on what timber to use...

    Unvented Cylinder in Cellar

Thanks. One place I was thinking is that there is an old coal room which is concealed with a lockable door. The coal room sometimes has a small amount of standing water in it because above it is a big open coal shoot and above that is a paved patio. During heavy rain some gets through and down...

    Unvented Cylinder in Cellar

For example, if I installed one of these: https://theintergasshop.co.uk/hot-water-cylinders/959-pump-house-high-temperature-prv-pump-for-unvented-cylinder-discharge-ph-5l-hw.html

    Unvented Cylinder in Cellar

Thanks. The mains flow and pressure is high enough as measured by the outdoor tap. There are a few people on the road that have an unvented system but they have all found good places for them. I just can’t think of decent place for it other than the cellar.

    Unvented Cylinder in Cellar

Hi people, Current setup is a vented cylinder with stupidly low cold water flow rates. So low that even if I bought a pump for the taps it isn’t enough to trigger such pumps! The reason being that the loft space is TINY. I found paper work showing previous owners had condensation issues so they...

    Dimmer Switch Wiring

I found the name of it finally; Lutron Rania. Discontinued now. Here are the wiring instructions. Can you make sense of any of this: https://assets.lutron.com/a/documents/048235a%20(2).pdf In the kitcehn I have 4 of these. I wanted to change all of them. Two control half the kitchen spot light...

    Dimmer Switch Wiring

Also, why are they called L and 1? Never seen this once on switch faceplate?

    Dimmer Switch Wiring

Yes, sorry should have said; it’s a 2 way switch. With it being 2 way the weird symbol goes into the comm on new plate then L and 1 go into L1 and L2 and doesn’t match which way round? Thanks

    Dimmer Switch Wiring

Dear forum, I want to change the faceplate of this push button Lutron dimmer switch to a standard. I am unfamiliar with the lettering/symbols of the current one: So it has L, 1 and a symbol which I know is the comm symbol (live feed). The one I want to swap it for has what every other...
