    Unequal Rafter Height

Hi, Managed to resolve the issue after a bit of thinking and a previous answer on the site regarding a similar height difference. The solution was to move the centre of the gully to the left by about 75mm. This was the actual line where the two roof heights intersected and now the havig lowered...

    Unequal Rafter Height

Hi, I have stripped out a part of my roof that had beed previously fitted with Klober dry valleys, before that they were lead. These were fitted by a professional roofer about six years ago but have leaked ever since. I have found that the dry valleys (Klober with centre upstand) were just...

Valley boards not at rafter height

Actually on reflection I think I could remove the ridge tiles after watching a video or two on it. Yes it did cross my mind as to weather or not to go back to lead, just not sure how to do that. More videos perhaps Thanks Farmer Jo

Valley boards not at rafter height

Had a roofer in about six years ago to rebatten and refelt (breathable type) the entire bungalow roof. There are six valleys that were originally of the lead type which were all replaced using Klober dry valley troughs (KR966100). At first all was OK but recently during a short intense...

Loss of Pressure But No Leak

Tried the endcaps in hot water and that seems to work with all the 10mm pipework. All four runs are now holding pressure. To be honest I don't totally trust the dry test gauge that I have, it could be leaking. I completed my 22mm/15mm bathroom pipe runs to shower and sink etc. and just bit the...

Loss of Pressure But No Leak

Yes that sounds like good information. I will try the warming the endcaps in warm water and spinning the endcaps before testing. Will report back with the results.

Loss of Pressure But No Leak

Also just noticed that the pushfit end caps I am using (John Guest) have a minimal working temperature of 20C. All my testing has been done at temperatures less than 10C and even below 0C overnight. Would this cause the endcaps to slightly leak? Regards FarmerJo

Loss of Pressure But No Leak

Got some spray and applied it to the copper work and so far found no leaks. I have added some additional pipework and one of those runs are also leaking. I did discover that some of the 10mm end caps were leaking when tested in bucket of water. Just out of interest, are pushfit endcaps a good...

Loss of Pressure But No Leak

Yes I like the leak detector fluid idea. Going to get some now. Thanks.

Loss of Pressure But No Leak

Yes I did wonder about the temperature. In my case (very cold house at the moment), normal daytime temperature is quite low. When I started the tests it was probably about 5C and went below this overnight. Its about 3.2C now. During this cold snap I suppose the temperature could get to about...

Loss of Pressure But No Leak

Hi, I have done some copper pipework for the flow and returns runs for my central heating system. The overhead runs are 22mm and I drop-down in 10mm microbore to each of 5 radiators. The 22mm run is about 20m long and the first 10mm connection is about 15m along. First I air pressure tested...

Boarding over for walkway and storage

I am assuming that the joists are also OK for the plasterboard and plaster top coat. The weird thing is that I removed a section of my craw way at one end of the bungalow to ensure that there could be no additional weight on the joists forcing it to sag. Although this reduced the sag by a...

Boarding over for walkway and storage

Hi, I have a bungalow that uses trusses that have a 6m span which are spaced apart by 0.6m for a total length of about 12m (about 20 trusses). Each truss uses 4 webs/posts in a 'w' formation. Forgive me if this is not the correct terminology. The trusses are made from 72mm x 36mm timber. The...

    TNC-S Loss of Neutral

Wow that has given me a lot to think about. Many thanks for everyone who has taken the time to help. Much appreciated. I think that perhaps instead of using earth rods I will choose a more robust harder wearing alternative since I already have the pavement removed from all away around the...

    TNC-S Loss of Neutral

Great help so far. I have some additional information which I should have included initially. There is no gas pipe to the bugalow, just water and oil. The water pipe is plastic and the oil pipe is copper and just goes to my own oil tank about 10m away for heating purposes. The oil pipe is...
