Thanks for your responses. I would assume its a transformer type as I cannot move it anti-clock. I'll double check to be sure. Have a B&Q and an Home-Base nearby. Will check with them.

Correct, there is no retaining clip. I have tried turning but it does not move. Feels like something is holding the bulb from inside .. something like an inverted 'V' clip?
