Solid wall - internal insulation.. will it help with cooling?

External not available.. also would look awful and would compromise on-kerb parking (tight enough as is). Front external is rendered (prob no lime), bathroom and kitchen are in the extension, door between. Condensation.. this was on my list of concerns.. no point solving one issue only to later...

Solid wall - internal insulation.. will it help with cooling?

Hello again. I'll be brief.. Sales rep at door, grant available specifically for those living in solid wall properties (subject to means test). I will of course perform due diligence. Outer walls only.. so front of house (facing west) and 1st floor only at rear. And that includes re-plastering...

SATA SDD disappearing or corrupting often

Here's another shot.... Given that it is a new system, you will have nothing to lose (ok.. mebe an hour so of time) by trying to install a copy of Win7 Ultimate for test purposes to see if there is a compatibility issue with Win10... shouldn't be too hard to track down ;) That said, could...

SATA SDD disappearing or corrupting often

Hmm.. interesting.. let's try a process of elimination. i) Have you tried the original sata hdd for signs of life in another system? Does it spin up but not boot? ii) Are there any BIOS updates available for the laptop (check manf website)?

    Shower upgrade to 10.5kW

Wundaboy is quite correct.. my house is most definitely in the modest (ie. hovel) category.. there was little time, expense, nor expertise afforded during construction.. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: In the combi/electric decision I was thinking that even if the gas boiler went down I could still have a...

    Shower upgrade to 10.5kW

Lot's of info so far.. much appreciated! The long deceased shower was a 'Berry' (no model number visible)... have a feeling that probably garbage when new. Combi boiler is a Baxi Combi 80Eco. I've got someone who will take care of the wiring (if required) as long as I lift the floorboards and...

    Shower upgrade to 10.5kW

My plans have been thwarted due to foreseeable gas prices.. this has complicated things. So.. I have decided that my best option is to go for an electric shower rather than running off the combi boiler. There is already wiring for the long-deceased electric shower.. however it was pretty feeble...

    7x1m external render... £2k..?

It transpires that the fills and scratch were done with a 3:1 sand/cement mix... not sure if I can face having the whole lot ripped off again. Wall is SE facing and very well protected by adjacent property (to SW) which has a full height flat roof extension.. predominant harsh weather comes from...

    7x1m external render... £2k..?

still way short of the original £2k, and whilst being erm 'rustic vs geometric' the house (whole terrace) were built using a tangled 'slinky' (70s toy) for a string with only a single spirit level in the entire town... next street down is like a bad trip in Alice in Wonderland... Am resting my...

    7x1m external render... £2k..?

..unfortunately I'm so far invested in this farce that it is as bloody to go on as it is to go back.. :-/

    7x1m external render... £2k..?

For some unknown reason... the alleged builder decided to follow the erratic contour from the lower roof upto the main roof.. so now we have to grind back about 40% of length and partially shim out 60% to just about squeeze fascia board & guttering under the fall off the main roof. I understand...

    7x1m external render... £2k..?

(2.5m>[small window]<4.5m) the 2.5m done on day_1 was solid, the 4.5m done on day_2 was shameful (different lad).. scraped off and up the tip 60% re-work done per original mix (4:1 with feb).. methodically knuckle tested after 72hrs.. all good apart from my knuckles which were rather sore...

    7x1m external render... £2k..?

Entire 2nd layer and most of 1st layer had to come off.. grrr Would seem that at some point the labourer came up with his own mix... which was mostly scraped off by myself with a bolster without using a hammer.... just grey coloured sand. Builder now very sheepish. I am now labouring for the...
