Hi, There is a BBQ hut in our front garden, it was there when we bought the house. I've noticed a black/grey discolouring at the bottom, and feeding up, through the hut. Do you think this is rising damp, or just general moisture damage from rain? I've no idea if there is any kind of DPC...

I'm pretty confident no water will get to the wall, I was more worried about underground, with the foundations etc, as it's loose ground below the flowerbed.

I had thought about this. How big would the gap have to be? The bed is only about 400mm depth off the wall; 100mm gap would be pretty obvious with only 400mm overall.
