Downstairs ring main tripped on 3 occasions in one month.

Discovered this wiring issue in my GF's house which she currently rents from a private landlord. Is it safe to have the live wire joined like this? Presumably the landlord upgraded the CU and didn't want to pay for a full rewire?

The shower still operates as normal, yesterday we ran it for 30mins and it was fine.

Thanks for all your replies. There is an isolator switch outside the bathroom. We normally leave it ON all the time. Only the SHOWER MCB is tripped. The make is PROTEK.
