Light switch move - the result

Because people have been led to believe the myth that they are necessary, and by pandering to that myth manufacturers and suppliers can make a little extra profit.

Light switch move - the result

If an Ofsted inspector is telling a nursery that they should use socket covers, then they are actually ignoring Ofsted instructions. It is a myth that Ofsted require their use, that has never been Ofsted policy, but it has not stopped some Ofsted inspectors making up their own rules. Ofsted...

To use or not to use........

See http://www.fatallyflawed.org.uk/html/faq.html#Q11 Also, this idea has been discussed in court, see: http://www.shocked.org.uk/

To use or not to use........

A recent IET article : “The Remarkable Evolution Of BS 1363” can be download from: http://tinyurl.com/plugsize The article provides a brief history of UK standards for domestic plugs and sockets, and emphasizes that sockets are made to fit plugs, rather than, as many seem to think, the other...

    So Sad

I know that plug-in power supplies are regulated, and would not be allowed to be sold if they had incorrect pin sizes, but have not measured any myself and, so far, have not felt the need to do so. I have changed a socket because of a broken plastic pin from a charger being stuck in it though...

I tried writing to several socket cover companies a couple of years ago, my experience was similar to fatallyflawed. I got the impression that none of them really had the first idea about electrical matters. One reply, from Safetots, really took the biscuit - here is an extract: "Although...

So, if the socket is NEVER going to be used again, it MAY be acceptable to use a plug-in socket cover. However, to avoid the possibility that socket contacts are permanently damaged you should really make sure that the covers you use do not have oversize pins. When I come across covers...

I think we are in agreement then, but I would not wish to make the assumption that you do about what fatallyflawed want. After all, it would be illogical to be against something which would meet a sensible standard. Perhaps they will comment on this?

    So Sad

The witness who recommended their use at that enquiry, "HM Principal Specialist Inspector (Electrical Engineering) of the Health and Safety Executive" sounds like someone in authority to me! As far as evidence goes, if fatallyflawed are correct that there are no right sized socket covers (I...

    So Sad

I've been watching this debate here and elsewhere for a long time, as far as I can tell what FatallyFlawed are trying to do is warn folk of the dangers, campaign against anyone in authority reccomending socket covers, and prevent the sale of socket covers which are the wrong size. I may be...
