    pump speed stuck

The grundfos circulating pump in my heating system is stuck on either 2 or 3. I can't tell which it is but it neither speeds up or slows down when the selector is turned between these two positions. In position 1 the pump doesn't turn at all. Has anyone come across this before and if so how can...

where is the air coming from?

I drained down my heating system two weeks ago and still can't get the air out of it! It seems to congregate round the pump and can get so bad that the pump runs dry and the boiler cuts out. If I run the pump without the boiler on, the air dissipates and it goes quiet but as soon as the boiler...

    boiler makes loud bang

Thanks guys for the swift replies. The noise is definitely coming from inside the boiler casing. The 3-port valve is 3 metres away in a cupboard. I will try to link a video to this page.

    boiler makes loud bang

I have a glow worm 30hxi system boiler badged as british gas 330. The heating is conventional vented with a hot water cylinder. I have a combined feed and vent, drayton 3-port valve and grundfos pump. The problem is that the boiler makes a loud bang if only heating is selected - and I mean it's...

    boiler makes banging noise

Hi Tony, thanks for the suggestion. The noise is definitely coming from the boiler. The three port valve is in an airing cupboard about 2 metres away.

    boiler makes banging noise

I have a 3 year old glow worm boiler badged as british gas 330 with a vented cylinder. The boiler makes a loud banging noise after being on for about 15 minutes. The bang is followed by a rushing noise, then the boiler switches itself off. It comes back on almost immediately and will run for...

    combined feed and vent

I need to move the feed and expansion tank of my vented system to a position above a new loft extension. The space is basically tiny and won't allow the 400mm needed for the expansion pipe above the tank. I've heard of combining the f and e which would seem to be a solution. However the pipe...

    feed and expansion tank

delta t2 - thanks for getting back to me with the diagram. The suggestion you make would solve the problem I'm having - but doesn't combining the feed and vent make the system less safe? thanks.

    feed and expansion tank

delta t2 - not sure hat you mean by "seal" the system. Do you mean pressurise it?

    feed and expansion tank

If it's 450mm then it won't go under the ridge. Is there a minimum height that the f and e tank has to sit above the level of the highest radiator?

    feed and expansion tank

I have to re-site the f and e tank in the loft due to a loft conversion. Ideally I'd like to put it as high as possible just under the ridge, however there's very little room there now. What is the minimun height that the expansion pipe has to rise above the water level in the tank please? thanks.

    soil pipe flashing?

Thanks for the reply and the link. I also need to deal with the 40mm wastes from the shower and sink that must also come through the tiles. Is there a smaller version of the flashing in the link? Or just seal with silicone? regards.

    tiling cat slide dormer

Hi, I'm building a cat slide dormer to house a set of stairs. The cheeks of the dormer have to be covered in plain tiles. I'm unsure how to deal with the sloping roofline? I've seen on tiled gable-ends that the tile that sits directly under the sloping eaves is a tile and a half cut and...
