Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

Oh and I totally forgot, to add a bit of context, i've done a little map of how the rads are piped up (birds eye view) starts at 28mm for the first meter or so, then splits into 2 x parallel runs of 22mm, then down to 15mm to each radiator, for the last meter or so. On setting 4, it was rad...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

Alriiiight, so revisiting this one as back in the property now and have had time to test it. So I decided to take the methodical approach and just up the setting by one. 3 was default, (constant pressure 250mbar). I set it to option 4, (constant pressure 300mbar). Results below. :- Radiators...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

Yep, im shocked none of the Bosch range I looked at show return temp. Esp considering how many bloody options this thing has. I have however bought a fish tank thermometer to measure the return. Thanks for the insights all: I will report back with findings. And hopefully don’t get too down...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

Again I guess it’s gonna be suck it and see…. Worst case I whack it up too high and the heat exchanger errors out because the waters coming back too hot?…

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

Yeah makes sense. I guess one easy test method would be to whack it in chimney sweep mode… that goes straight to 100% right? And assume it doesn’t override the pump speed settings… be interesting to see the difference regarding the heat of the rads and whether it still trips at target flow etc.

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

About 20mins I’d say. Starts at 20%… It’s gradual and incremental over that period all the way up to 100%. I am running 30kw of rads mind you so in my inexperienced mind… 25 mins to get to target temp felt about right. I’ve just never understood why it can’t just reach 100% much quicker…Bosch...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

hear hear, my old Bosch boiler just has one dial that controls the flow temp and output … whack it on 5 out of 7 and bobs your uncle. Glad im not the only one experiencing this. And your assessment is right, turn on from cold… takes 25 mins to get to target (incrementally upping its % output...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

I see, so even if the burner goes out, setting 1 on the pump settings wouldn’t then stop the pump as the boiler knows there’s still demand for heat? Despite the burner being out? Will setting the max flow temp as above prevent it exceeding the target flow temp?

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

I did limit the boiler output to 90% for a while but it still did this. Is there another way I can stop it from happening? I.e i can see on the boiler settings I can set both; the flow target temp, AND there's a separate option for setting MAX flow temp. (currently set to 80). If I set that to...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

Now that makes me wonder if this is related. I’ve noticed this boiler gets to target flow of 70c in about 25 mins. But when it gets there, the burner goes out for about 1minute during which time the flow temp rapidly goes down to maybe 50 or so. Then the burner comes back on at a much reduced...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

Oh I see, by primaries if you mean the main flow and returns directly from / to the boiler. They’re 28mm for the first 2 meters, then split into 2 parallel runs of 22mm (front of house run) and (Rear of house run) then down to 15mm for the last meter or so to each rad.

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

So I understand the difference correct then, with a min and max at default…. It would modulate somewhere in that range relative to…. The output % of the burner? … essentially the harder the boiler is working, so too would the pump? Or nah?

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

I’ve not needed to have the heating on since making this post so haven’t tried yet. But, I have set it to “5” so it looks as though the constant speeds are at least selectable. The question regarding hot water - that’s a separate traditional boiler with an unvented cylinder, entirely separate...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

I see, won’t comment on the installer too much but he did say most options on the boiler are only relevant if I have an external weather controller outside the house. Which sounded bizarre so I didn’t opt for it. I have seen 3d3 and 4 yes. But wasn’t sure what the percentage was of…. 100% is...

Worcester Bosch System Boiler - Best pump settings?

Yeah, so the difference between those two bits is where im hazy. What's the benefit on going setting 0 on this one? and under what circumstances is it preferable to use that? vs a constant pressure of the other settings?
