Best method of cleaning Laquered Wood flooring

Lots of companies do wood floor cleaning products, which are fairly cheap and ridiculously easy to use, probably the most popular is the 'Bona Wood Floor Cleaning Kit' [google it] they are usually around the £25.00 mark and will last you a while before you need to buy the Bona Cleaner to top...

Ariston Micro Genus 28 HE Issues

Hi Folks Our under 2 yr old boiler Ariston Genus 28 HE has just stopped heating the rads up, still got hot water, but no heat from the rads at all even though the control unit says the boiler is on [little flame pulsing away] The condensing bowl was full of water and sediment, I've just...

Best way to apply Blanchon HWO to parquet please

Can i ask why on earth you want to put a coloured oil on old oak parquet blocks ?? The blocks will colourise beautifully with a clear HWO, you just don't need to use a coloured oil [IMHO] but it's obviously down to personal preference. There are several ways to put HWO onto a parquet floor...

    Restoring wooden floors.

Another very good filler which is well worth a mention is Junckers Basefill... Very similar to Lecol 7500 to use and in appearance, it's solvent based so is fairly strong smelling, but the smell goes after 15-20 minuntes, and it dries really quiclky as well, certainly much quicker than the...

Sanding floor - help with queries appreciated

Fully agree with WYL on the decorating, get as much done before hand as possible, and if you do hire a quality edging machine such as the excellent Bona 7" then you will be hard pressed to do any damage to the skirting boards, but i often advise clients to undercoat the skirts before sanding...

Sanding floor - help with queries appreciated

WYL i find it really easy to spot repair lacquered floors, and FYI i can apply any type of oil with the very best of them....done loads, but tell me .....whats better....2 or 3, everyone knows 2 coats of oil are applied to a floor, whereas any self respecting pro floorsander always applies 3...

Sanding floor - help with queries appreciated

Use the best Sanding gear you can afford, don't use the poor quality HT7 or HT8 from the hire shops, they are not in the same league as the Bona kit. You may be suprised at what grit level you will need to take off old lacquers and seals, if you start on 60grit you will be in for a long long...

    Bitumen/DPMs and parquet flooring

As Glueman mentioned, the original bitumen glue would likely have been thought of as partly a DPM, when i am doing parquet block repairs to concrete floors which have a bitumen residue left on it, i apply 2 coats of a liquid dpm, either Lecol PU280 or Sika Rapid, both are superb products and 2...
