Thanks Alex. The water stopping is not my concern, it's about it sitting stagnant in the pipe. Obviously a water leak is a big problem but that is the case for any plumbing job.
I take your point. I was planning to sight it really close to the tee so it's a short length. I've decided to go with your advice though and I'm just going to add a double check valve at the tee and then flush regularly.
