Boiler sound when turning off cold tap

Hi, yesterday I replaced my old mixer tap in the kitchen with a new one. As per the instructions I installed check valves on both the hot and cold (correct way round!) All is now ok, however when the cold's been running, and I then turn the cold tap off, there's a sound from the boiler...

    O rings

Hi, I'm in the process of replacing the secondary heat exchanger on my Ariston Combi. When I took it off, there is only one 0 ring - is this right, or should there be four (one on each flow and return for heating and water?) I've never had any leak problems so I assume this may be...

    Draining a boiler

Hi, quick question - if I drain my combi boiler by shutting off the ch return taking the cap off and then re-opening, and then shut the cold water feed and run the hot taps, is it ready to work on? - so no need to drain down the whole system? Thanks Graham

    Ariston Combi Secondary Heat Exchanger

To follow up same problem has started occurring, as a number of people suggested would happen - however, I got a further 10 months life out of the secondary heat exchanger just by jet washing so I'm happy! Thanks Graham

    Bathroom extractor and lights

Hi, I'm looking at getting 6 spotlights and an extractor fitted in my bathroom. It's approx 2.5Mx2.8M with a shower over the bath (off the taps). Would one of the extractors with light built in be suitable over the shower end of the bath, or would I be better off going for a separate...

    Ariston Combi Secondary Heat Exchanger

Sorry, just seen this. It looked to me like sludge - it was black when it was coming out. I had already done the Fernox cleaner, and inhibitor as you suggested. Thanks Graham

    Ariston Combi Secondary Heat Exchanger

For anyone else looking at doing this... Followed the above instructions, all fine. When I released the secondary heat exchanger some water came out, I fortunately had some dust sheets below! Not enough room to get it out (after lots of trying), and couldn't get the side panel off the...

    Kitchen taps slow to operate

Hi, I have a mixer tap in the kitchen, and both the hot and cold are very slow to turn on - by that I mean it takes lots of turns before the flow is any good - when it gets there it's fine. Is this something that can be easily rectified? Thanks Graham

    Ariston Microgenus Combi 27MFFI

Hi, I'm prepared to replace the secondary heat exchanger, but first of all I thought I'd try giving it a clean out - I thought about using the jet washer on it, I assume this can't really do any damage? Thanks Graham

    Treating and flushing system

Hi Agile, maybe so but had I just gone with the 'Ariston recommended' guy I would be £550 notes lighter, by all accounts for a powerflush that I didn't need! Graham

    Ariston Combi Secondary Heat Exchanger

Hi, Firstly thanks for everybody's help on here, you've been really helpful so far. Quick summary of my problem - Ariston MicroGenus 27MFFI combi - when hot water is run the pilot light fires off then cycles on/off every 15 seconds or so, resulting in cold showers! I was advised to have...

    Treating and flushing system

Thanks for all your assistance. In case anyone else is going to try this I thought I'd follow up what I'd done... First attempt at putting Fernox F3 into the rad, I failed to release enough pressure from the system and when administering the Fernox, the back end of the cartridge virtually...

    Treating and flushing system

Thanks again for all help. "Make sure you drain/flush it from each drop to downstairs rads" I assume the method given above will do this? Thanks Graham
